Hits in the headlines #54

In the US, the shopping mall became the main place for shopping, before cementing itself as the place for families to spend days off, teenagers to hang out with friends, and local communities to host events. However, the world has changed since the mall’s height of popularity, leaving many of these buildings empty and in some cases crumbling. So what went wrong for the American shopping mall? What happens to these places now? And, could this be a problem coming to your country?

Additionally, there are stories on the future of home-schooling in the UK and the problems it creates; and a video about how the biggest brands have not only become our favourites, but how they have changed the way that we think about companies and our connections to them.

Here are some interesting stories that I have found this week. With different topics, I am sure you will find something that is new and challenging for you. Why not use this as a chance to learn some new language?

Try to note some new language that you see or hear in the articles or video and bring it to the class.
