Articles for conversation - #43

Another week another celebration — a British holiday this time. Find out about Guy Fawkes Night and the weird celebrations of one small town in England. Like many traditions, changes to public opinion and culture have altered the way people view this history, but it is still relevant today (in some areas).

Also, find stories about how one city is becoming a surveillance state and how daylight savings might not actually be as necessary as some may think.

Here are the articles for this week’s conversation classes. Of course, you can still use these even if you are not taking conversation classes. I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Please let me know if you have any issues accessing these.

Try to note some new or interesting language that you see or hear in the articles or video and bring it to the class.
